Licensed, Registered Mental Health Professional
The following points are worth considering
when looking for a Japan certified mental health counselor or psychotherapist
to help you work through any problems you may experience in your life
in Japan:
Does the person offering mental health counseling services in your language:
1. also speak and work in Japanese too
2. have a good working relationship with a Japan licensed psychiatrist.
Only medical doctors licensed by the Japanese
Ministry of Health, Welfare and Labour are legally permitted to provide
mental health treatment, make a diagnostic assessment, prescribe medication.
3. hold a national license, certification or registration in Japan as
a mental health counselor, clinical psychologist, psychotherapist, psychiatrist
or other Japan licensed or certified professional to offer mental health
treatment and mental health counseling through emotional, psychological
and social support services.
4. work in a hospital, clinic or counseling center facility which is recognized
by nationwide Japanese mental health care associations and societies.
