Swim Meet Invitation

Dear Swim Coaches and Team Administrators:

The Saipan Swim Club and the International Buccaneers of Tokyo, would like to invite you to the 4th Saipan Invitational Swim Meet and 28th Annual Saipan Ocean Swim, an open water swim around two World War II Tanks left stranded inside the lagoon. Both on the Island of Saipan, also known as the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

The meet, 156 events, is a one and a half day competition at the Kan Pacific Swimming Pool (50m x 8 lanes), beginning at 3:00 pm on March 17th and all day on the 18th for all age groups including six masters events. On Sunday, the open water event is swum, by age groups, from 8 years and under on a 0.6km course, 9-10 years on a 1.0km, 11-12 years on a 1.3km, and 13-14 and Seniors on a 2.5km course. The Masters, broken into age groups, have a choice of a 1.3 km or a 2.5km course, all various configurations around the WW II Tanks.

The pool meet is held every other year but the ocean swim has been an annual affair. As in past years, teams are expected from Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Philippines, Åustralia, Guam, Palau and Saipan.

We would like to invite your team or individuals to participate. There are special locally made high point trophies for the age group winners and for the top three teams. We would be pleased to put you in contact with hotels and airlines serving the island of Saipan.

For further information contact myself Michael Stewart at email address saipanswim@hotmail.com or Linda Graf at saipanlinda@yahoo.com. In Japan, try Dave Moodie bucsdave@gol.com or Yoshiharu Endo yoxendo48@hotmail.com at (81-03) 3709-3411, of the International Buccaneers.

Please let us know if you would be interested and how we can help you.
