Course Description

This class is a basic introduction to British civilization, broadly covering the geography and social, and cultural topics in English. It is intended to be interesting and fun, but it will also be useful for students to develop their English skills and serve as practical preparation for those who would like to visit the U.K.

The course involves a lot of work on a regular basis. All four language skills will be exercised and developed. Students cannot miss more than three classes per semester without special cause. Active participation in class activities, homework and preparation for class will be continuously assessed by the teacher and the peer group. No Japanese will be used in class. Students are encouraged to use my website.

The teacher will hand out printed materials to support the course book when necessary. Students will need a lined exercise book for written homework and a Japanese to English and English to Japanese dictionary.
