Juvenile Crime
Today I want to talk about juvenile crime. I'm interested in juvenile crime because there are many juvenile crimes these days. I'm going to cover 3 points. First I'll talk about whether the number of juvenile crimes is increasing compared with the old days. Then I'll cover why juvenile crimes occur. Finally I'll tell you what is troubling minors.
First I will ascertain if the number of juvenile crimes is increasing compared with the old days. According to The Asahi, in 2000, the number of minors arrested for murder was 102, but that for juvenile crimes of 1960 or thereabouts has been about 300. Now, the number of murders is a quarter that of its peak time and the number of teenage murderers is one sixth of what it was 30 years ago.
I have covered whether the number of juvenile crimes is increasing. Now I'll talk about why juvenile crimes occur. One of the reasons, these days, is that many young people who are inexperienced tend to marry because they have a baby. I don't want to say that early marriage isn't good, but I think discipline by inexperienced people is related to juvenile crimes because currently many young people seem to be lacking in common sense. Bringing up young children is very very important because it becomes the foundation of human determination.
I have talked about if the number of juvenile crime is increasing compared with the old days and why juvenile crimes occur. Finally I will tell you about what is troubling minors. To begin with, it seems to be concerned with society which makes a point of valuing an academic background.
In this society, many modern boys and girls go to cram schools after school. So many of them had stresses and strains, but some of them don't have outlets.
Now the number of parents who work in double harness is increasing. So it's hard to see all of the family at dinner time like in the old days. The situation like that causes a lack of communication between parents and children. According to one psychologist, children seem to be poor at expressing impulses or conflicts of mind verbally, so they express them by acting instead.
To summarize, I have revealed that the number of juvenile crimes is decreasing compared with the old days and shown why juvenile crimes occur and what is troubling minors. The key points are the number of juvenile crimes is decreasing compared with the old days, but we must think what we should do as a society, parents, teachers and so on, and I want the society which doesn't trouble minors. Minors tend to do something wrong sometimes, but I don't want to overlook the present context of juvenile crimes.
