Advanced (A) (B) ECS III- Environmental Issues
Course Description
This class will explore 12 key environmental issues, including climate change, endangered species, our car culture, green economics and politics. We will focus on one theme from the textbook for two weeks, using video materials at different times. You must read the text and prepare questions and answers outside of class; we will then analyze issues through guided class discussion. Class activities will include pair and small group discussion of studied topics and one presentation per semester.
Attendance of 80% or more, active participation in class activities and preparation outside class are required to pass this course. No Japanese will be used in class.
Grades will be based on attendance, preparation for and participation in class activities such as focused discussions, mini-presentations and debates. Students are encouraged to use my website.
