Hey, mister ghost. Who are you?
Shiro Uesaka
There are a lot of mysteries in the world. The ghost is one of them. In the old days, most people believed in ghosts. Ghosts have been respected, feared, and sometimes dealt with like God. However, the more technology developed, the less people there were who believed in ghosts. Nevertheless, there are many people who feel something magical in ghosts. Why do they feel so? In this paper I will consider why people disagree about ghosts and how ghosts can benefit us.
For a start, there are different arguments for believing or not believing in ghosts. Let us consider the arguments against believing in ghosts. People who don't think that ghosts exist say that ghosts are not substantial. Their argument is as follows. First, they have never seen ghosts. Second, a lot of ghosts mysteries have already been cleared up scientifically. Third, it is impossible to prove the existence of ghosts. On the other hand, people who think that ghosts exist say it is natural that they do. They have three main reasons to think so. First, they see ghosts sometimes. Second, there are a lot of mysteries that have not been cleared up. Third, it is impossible to prove the there are no ghosts in the world. Both of these opinions may be right, so it makes no sense to me, to discuss which is right. However, what makes people believe in ghosts and how, is more important to understand.
Although some people believe in ghosts, they disagree about the nature of ghosts. We often hear that someone sees a ghost whose figure is human-like and who wears something. From the scientific viewpoint, it is impossible, because if so, his coasting also must have a spirit will be unified with himself, and if this is something that goes out of the body, it must not be similar to the body, because the corpse can't be kept its original form. From the psychological viewpoint, we can explain the reason for their seeing ghosts. Probably, they're related to the person who died there may know him or her has a lingering attachment in life, or have heard some rumors of him a or her and often been rumored as horrible. So, in the day related to him or her own or at the place related to him or her, if a mysterious incident happens, the begin to think it must be ghostly work. This can be illustrated easily to an exam of all. . One day, Miss A, who is very faithful, breaks a leg in a traffic accident. If an augur (fortune teller) says to her that she is lucky that day, she may think that it is lucky that she is alive. If the augur says to her that she is unlucky, she may think it's unlucky that she had the accident. Either way, she is satisfied by the fortune teller's performance. She rationalizes the augury. In this way, we can explain what makes people believe in the ghost. So there are many people who make use of ghosts. (C. F. Sources i ii and iii.)
Ghosts can be seen as a useful tool in several ways. As an education tool, it is very convenient to bring up a child. If your child does a bad thing, you can say, "the ghost will come and you will be eaten!" For therapy, it is possible to cure someone who suffers a disease and depression. For amusement, ghosts can thrill us in ghost houses, kimodamesi -and supply us with interesting topics - ghost stories, horror films for examples. In childhood, did you talk with friends about ghosts like Hanakosan? In my childhood, I was also able to see a ghost. So I enjoyed talking about it. But, in fact, it was false, because I have never seen ghosts clearly. Perhaps I felt something terrible in the darkness, and the fear made me believe in the ghost. On the other hand, it can be a bad tool too. It is a money-making tool for professionals. If they find someone who is in trouble, they say that you are cursed, so you have to be relieved of the demon. And they sting the victim for big money.
In my opinion, it is indifferent to me whether a ghost exists or not. If anything, I hardly believe in ghosts. Put it that ghosts exist, my hypothesis is as follows. Since in general, only one person can see the ghost when a ghost appears, he is possessed by the ghost, and the ghost makes him or her see its figure. However, I couldn't believe in shamans, we call them reinousya, because they are theatrical. If I were to practice at pretending to be possessed by ghosts, I too, could be a shaman. They are only entertainers as far as I'm concerned.
In conclusion, people who believe in ghosts will still continue to do so in spite of some unreasonable points. So ghosts will continue to subsist forever whether they are substantial or not, because the length of ghosts' history is equal to that of humans and ghosts are attractive for many people. Therefore, we must remember that we are capable of being exploited by wicked dealers as long as ghosts exist. But we can get along with ghosts if we beware of crooked Men. Thus, we have to coexist with ghosts successfully.
