Model Speeches
Wedding
Friends and family, it's a great honor and pleasure to speak to you (today / this afternoon / this evening) on this joyous occasion of Mark and Susan's wedding. As many of you know Mark and I became friends at University. As Susan knows he is a loveable man, intelligent and warm-hearted, generous and loyal. He is a pillar of the community and since he started working for (Company name) he has been promoted twice and the company stock price has risen considerably. Now, as best man it's my duty to tell you of some things that you didn't know about him. (Insert appropriate anecdotes and comments about the bridegroom)
Anyway, I am very proud to be his best man, especially as his many other friends (and brothers) are perhaps more deserving and probably would have done a better job.
You all know that Susan and Mark met in (place name), but I thought you might like to know the circumstances of that fateful first meeting. (Insert researched anecdote about their meeting if appropriate)
Susan is a valued member of (company name) and has a large number of virtues apart from her stunning good looks. We all knew her to be charming and intelligent, wise and discerning, now we know her to be brave and compassionate as well. Lucky for you, Mark! No, seriously, it seems that in the great game of life you have won the top prize.
Perhaps the greatest test of a man's character is how you handle your success. Mark my friend, we have every confidence in you.
Anyway, I am overjoyed that Susan has made an honest man of him. I don't think I have ever seen such a well matched couple. With parents like these their children will surely have a great head start in life.
Let's raise our glasses. I know that you will all join me in a toast to their very good health and lasting happiness together. To Mark and Susan,
(TOAST: may the best you have ever seen be the worst you are yet to see.
may all your troubles be little ones.
may your future glow with health, happiness and success)

Funeral
Friends and family, when news of (name)'s passing reached us we were all deeply and greviously sorry. This blow has struck us all. It is a melancholy and bitter duty for friends and relations to offer comfort to one another when we are similarly afflicted. However we are united not only by our grief, but also in our love and respect for (name). We will always remember him/her for his/her (list of virtues.) He/she was the finest ( father/mother, grandparent, friend and job title. Our fondest memories of (name) will differ, but I will always remember him/her at (place) when he/she (insert anecdote).
The world is poorer for name's passing, but I am confident that he/she is safe in God's hands and that we will be reunited some day. Let us comfort one another with that reassurance.
