-ONE YEAR, ONE WAY around THE WORLD-
On 30th may 2004 Daisuke, traveling alone after Chris's accident, reached
to the last place, SanFrancisco USA. The total distance is 77,300km by
motorcycle from Tokyo. He sent his motorcycle from LA to Tokyo and went
back to his home.
...and Chris here,
I would like to take this opportunity to announce the end of my 13,000
mile (about 21,000 km) summer motorcycle journey. My original plan called
for me to go through Central and South America, but my broken collar bone
just hurt too much on bad roads. A trip to South America would be more
pain than pleasure. So, I decided it was time to go home to Tokyo. I could
have ridden more through the United States and Canada, but prices there
are fairly high. That would mean spending more money I could put towards
another trip at a later date. I plan to work for a few years and travel
again in the future when my body is more completely healed. For the time
being, I plan to continue working as a freelance translator. So if anyone
needs any Japanese to English translation.
So, this ends Chris Lockwood and Daisuke Yokoes world motorcycle journey.
We dont know who will go were next or when. But we are probably not going
to go (very) far from home for a while.
Thank you for following our journey, and we hope to be able to share our
individual journeys with you in the future.
一年間で地球をひと周り。
単独で旅を続けていた横江は2004年5月30日、東京から77,300kmを走り最終地サンフランシスコへ到着。出発からちょうど366日目の6月3日にロサンジェルスにてバイクを日本へ向けて輸送の後、6月5日に帰国。
一方、復帰後に米国を走っていたクリスはというと、、、
「クリスです。１万３千マイル（約２万１千キロ）のひと夏の旅に終わりを告げます。当初の予定では北米の次に中南米を走るつもりだったけれど、やっぱり悪路になると折った鎖骨が痛くなってくる。それじゃ南米まで行っても楽しみよりも苦しみの旅になってしまうと思います。ということで早めに日本に帰る事にしました。アメリカとカナダでもっと走ってもよかったかも知れないけどお金がかかり、次回の旅にでられるまでかなり時間がかかってしまいます。数年「まじめに」仕事をしたら万全な体でまた世界の旅に出るでしょう。とりあえず、以前やっていたようにフリーで翻訳の仕事を続けるつもりです。」
ということで、クリス・ロックウッドと横江大介の世界バイク旅はこれで終了したことになります。
これからどちらが何時何処に行くかわからないけれども、しばらくはおとなしくして（あまり）遠くまで行かない予定です。
