Note: To Ex-Nationair Employees and Families involved in the Jeddah Accident:

A few of us thought it would be nice to get together to remember our family, friends and co-workers and the joy and laughter they brought into our lives.

Details:
Monday July 11, 2011 @ 6pm
GTAA Memorial Site, 3111 Convair Drive, Toronto
Gathering to follow @ Hotel Indigo, 135 Carlingview Drive

There is plenty of parking at both venues.

This has been planned with the full support of the GTAA and the Toronto Airport Chaplaincy/Interfaith Ministry. We are pleased to have Father McKenna join us for the memorial.

Please let us know if you plan on attending at 20years@nationair-canada.com .
Feel free to invite those that you think would like to attend. Especially if you are still in touch with some of the family members. We are in the process of tracking down families, friends & co-workers and will do our best to make contact directly.

Always loved, never forgotten.

I have received photos of Aldo Tettamanti for the Memorial page from his cousin Renzo. Thank you Renzo!

The Memorial plaque at the GTAA building has been polished up and looking better than it has in a very long time.

The plaque and Memorial Tree are in front of the GTAA building on Convair Drive in Mississauga. Located to the right of the stairs as you face the main entrance from the visitor parking lot.

Ex-NX Toronto-based Purser Sergio C. passed away suddenly this week. Condolences to his family and friends.

With his shock of curly hair and a unique way of saying "Hey man", working with Sergio was never boring and neither were layovers with him. Whether it being on a six-hour bus ride after an 8 hour flight, shopping in Lisbon, or just being behind him at Customs at Gatwick, he was always full of surprises and able to make you laugh. He'll be deeply missed.

Sorry to hear that Judge Alan Gold, who worked so hard as a Mediator in our case with Nationair and to end the Lockout, has passed away at the age of 87.

Judge Gold was a very fair man, and came to us after working with a number of much higher profile cases.

He made suggestions twice that the Flight Attendants agreed to and the company refused. In the end, it was his recommendations for salaries that the company finally agreed to (after refusing them twice before over the 15 month lockout period) Sadly, it was too late, and bankruptcy followed quickly.

I'm sure his patience was tried by some of the antics he witnessed, and I'm certain most men in their mid 70's would have rather been anywhere else, but it was both a pleasure and an honor working with him.

Do you know any Flight Attendants and/or pilots who worked on the Nationair flight from Brussels to Montreal on October 9th 1990?

To refresh your memory, the plane had to make an emergency landing at Shannon airport in Ireland because of a fire alarm in the hold (luggage compartment) of the plane.

A reader has asked for some assistance. If you can help, please contact me

Recently, the provider of the free Guestbook changed hands, and as they did so, decided to start charging for their services. They also decided to keep any old entries in the guestbook held hostage unless we decided to pay for the new service.

Not caring much for strong-arm tactics ;-) - at first I wasn't going to pony-up, simply on principle, but thanks to the generous donation of one of our visitors, it's back, with the old posts in place.

Thank you very much for your support!

The winter of 2002 saw some ex-flight attendants receiving some of the money owed to them by Nationair. Many thanks to those who were involved in this long arduous process. You know who you are.

Thanks everyone for your comments regarding this site, and there have been quite a few. Even some that were...ah...interesting to say the least. Who'd have thought that some people who throw around $20 words can't read?

I suppose it bears repeating....

Corporate culture can always buy better press (and brainwash managers better) than mere employees.

Theres the truth, and then there's the spin that Corporations and Governments want you to believe. Never has this been more obvious than the past year or so.

To the families of those who perished in Saudi Arabia - I can only say that they are still deeply missed and thought of often. We've received plenty of email from people who knew nothing of Nationair or the crash and are thankful for the site, and have been moved by the memorial page.

There is an expansion of events during the Bankruptcy that was not in the last version of this site. I hope to add to it when time allows.
