Nationair scab Sylvie Roy was arrested in Brussels
during the month of November 1991 for her alleged role in the importing
of 6.6 kilograms of heroin at a Rome airport in January 1986.
The heroin was found in her mother and aunt's red suitcases as they
were returning home from a vacation. The sisters pleaded not guilty
and claimed they were victims of an international conspiracy. Evidence
at the sisters' trial revealed the red suitcases had been a gift
from Roy. Roy had testified that she bought the luggage from a man
named Andre,a convicted heroin smuggler who was never found.
The sisters' arrest caused a sensation in Quebec and they eventually
told their tale in the book Les Valises rouges (The Red Suitcases).
Guilty or not, how did Roy get security clearance from the Canadian
government for access to secure areas in most airports in the world,
and ALL Canadian airports, if there was an international warrant
out for her arrest?
At the time this occurred, all legitimate airline staff wearing
security passes in Canada were being fingerprinted and had background
checks done on them before getting the clearance. Ah yes, the Canadian
Government, working hard for your tax dollar.
