1. Think about what peace is. First, you should read our What is peace? page and think about what peace means to you.
When you think you know what peace is, go out and photograph it. Some of the best photographs take a lot longer than just pushing the shutter button on a camera. They require very careful observation of the thing you want to photograph (the subject). You may want to take the time to just watch what the subject is doing. Think about the light - when is the best time to take the photo? On the other hand, many great photographs were taken quickly, so as not to miss a great moment. You may have to work spontaneously. You may also have an old photograph that you took in the past that means a lot to you, and that you think represents peace. Remember that the photos that you submit should be all your own work. Don't copy someone else's photo that you found in a book or on the internet. It should be your own creation.
You can submit your photo with a caption describing why you think this is an image of peace. Some photos don't need captions - they explain themselves. You should also think about a title for the photo, and your name. If you don't want your real name on the photo, that is fine - you can also use an alias, or a made-up name.
When you have finished all the above steps, you can e-mail the photo to submit@whatdoespeacelooklike.org. PEACEworks staff will put your photo up on the internet as quickly as possible. This may take a few days depending on the time of year and the number of photos we receive.
Photos submitted do not necessarily represent the views of PEACEworks. The copyright and ownership of the photo remains the property of the author. By submitting a photo, you are allowing PEACEworks to display that photo as a part of the website or related promotional material.
Please note that we reserve the right to reject or remove any photos on the basis of copyright infringement or the photos not matching the objectives of the PEACEworks project.
