Bristol Rec Fall 2005 Knitting Classes
Beginning Class - Advanced Class

Beginning Knitting: A Christmas Hat
Learn how to cast on, knit, purl, rib, decrease and finish a project. Each student will complete a green wool Christmas hat, which is shaped like a tree and decorated with tinsel yarn, mini-decorations, and bells. All supplies (even needles) are included with directions. Most students will have enough time to start a second project of their own choosing (with their own yarn).
Fee: $40 + $20 for materials (directions, yarn, size 8 knitting needles, decorations and a darning needle)

My knitting class in Japan with their Christmas hats. Our hats will be slightly different as we'll use different yarn and a simpler pattern.

Advanced Knitting: A Double Sided Scarf
You will learn how to knit with two colors so that both sides of the garment will show a color pattern in stocking stitch. Students need to supply their own yarn (worsted weight or lighter and nothing too rough) & needles. Different knitting patterns will also be discussed. Directions and a pattern will be supplied, although students will be free to create their own pattern after knitting a swatch.
Fee: $35

This scarf pattern will be included in the directions.

Here the scarf is folded over so that you can see how the double knitting works with all of the colors reversed on the back side.

This is a sampler scarf that I made. If you have knitting books of your own, I will be happy to help you make this type of scarf.
