The FWLA is very pleased to have Joy Fuyuno as its special guest speaker on March 10th. Joy is a partner and member of White & Case's Tokyo Antitrust and Competition Law Practice Group and will explain the requirements and enforcement provisions under the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and why we should be aware of such requirements even though our companies and our clients are engaging in business outside of the United States.
Joy has extensive experience in antitrust counseling, governmental investigations and litigation. She has represented clients in major international cartel and single-firm conduct investigations and related U.S. class action litigation. She also regularly counsels clients regarding competition issues in connection with joint ventures, M&A and other cross border transactions, pricing policies and dealership and distribution issues. Joy received her B.A. from Stanford University and her J.D. from Columbia University's School of Law. Prior to joining White & Case, Joy was seconded to the legal division of a prominent Japanese trading company. Joy also has served in leadership of the Antitrust Section of the American Bar Association for over six years and is currently Vice-Chair of the Civil Practice and Procedure Committee and formerly served as Vice-Chair of the International Committee. Lately Joy also has been active advising, writing and speaking on the new Chinese antimonopoly law and related regulations. If time permits, we hope Joy will answer questions about this new legal regime during the Q&A session if attendees are interested in this subject as well.
We hope you will join us to learn more about the extraterritorial reach of the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and to meet this accomplished member of the Tokyo legal community.
FWLA meetings are open to the public. Everyone -- men and women, lawyers and those interested in the law or simply the featured topics of discussion -- are always welcome to attend our meetings so please invite your friends and colleagues to attend this exciting presentation. Guests do not need to accompany a member.
