Membership Requirements

Foreign Lawyers - If you are a woman living in Japan, you will qualify for Foreign Lawyer Membership if you meet any one of the following: are licensed as an attorney in a jurisdiction other than Japan; have a law degree from a country outside Japan; are a member of a governing body of a jurisdiction outside Japan; are a professor of law at college or university outside of Japan; or are a member of a corporate legal department of a non-Japanese entity.

Japanese Lawyers - If you are a woman resident in Japan but do not come within any of the above categories, you can join as a Japanese Lawyer if you meet any one of the following: are licensed in Japan as a bengoshi, zeirishi, benrishi, shihoshoshi or gyoseishoshi; are a graduate from an undergraduate faculty of law of a Japanese college or university; are a professor of law at a Japanese college or university; are a member of the Japanese Diet or other governing body of Japan; or are a member of a corporate legal department of an entity organized under the laws of Japan.

Special Members - Other women, with an interest in law, may be admitted as members by a vote, and at the discretion of the Board.
Fees:
Japan residents: ¥10,000
Full-time students: ¥4,000
Overseas residents: ¥4,000 (or $US equivalent)
Other special members: ¥10,000
