After 25 years of photography Australian/American
professional photographer Goth Carter will hold his first solo exhibition
in Japan from Wednesday February 11th [a National holiday] until Monday
the 16th [dates are inclusive].
The exhibition is titled: "Then & Now" - referring to Gothfs changing
style from his origins in Australia, to his work in America and particularly
since coming to Japan 6 years ago. Visitors to Gallery Space Too will
see both colour and black & white images created in Australia,
the United States and Japan. Primarily interested in people, Mr Carterfs
images make powerful statements, revealing both the public and private
personas of his subjects. Image by image, his photos will confront
as well as please your senses.
The exhibition can be viewed at the Gallery Space Too in Kamiyacho
Kita-ku. The gallery is only 10 minutes walk from Umeda, and easily
accessable from JR Tenma station, Tannimachi subway's Nakazakicho
station and Sakaisuji's Ogimachi station. The Gallery is located behind
the YWCA [Yamanishi-fukushi-kaikan] and near Kitano Hospital. [see

Born: Sydney, Australia. Lifelong connection
with photography through both his parents who are professional photographers,
writers and filmmakers. Goth began taking photos in his early teens,
and could independently take a black and white photograph, process
the film and make a handprint by the age of fifteen.
Goth Carter is primarily a epeople photographerf. He has been working
for a quarter of a century in fashion, art, portraiture and event
photography in Australia, the United States and Japan.
Goth Carter has created an office and school called "GCG"
in Nakazakicho near Umeda, Osaka. He teaches English there as well
as Photography and Guitar [Goth is also a professional performer].
His Japanese wife is an artist in her own right and teaches Art at
GCG. Goth also works as a professional photographer taking modeling
portfolios, CD covers and event photos, as well as catalogue and product
shots.
Recently, particularly since moving to Osaka Japan in 1998, Mr Carter
has become increasingly interested in the Japanese aesthetic, including
the fashion, lifestyle and philosophy. This is reflected in his more
recent photos.
Goth Carter has taken 25 years to hold his first Solo Exhibition of
his photography, don't miss it!
