For 25 years across 3 continents Goth Carter has created compelling
photographic statements in both black and white and colour.
His strong, clear style is stamped on both the photos he has produced
in his professional work as well as those he takes during his efree timef - clear, candid images he plucks from the 'noise' of the streets
and everyday life in Australia, the United States and Japan.

Born: Sydney, Australia.
Lifelong connection with photography through both his parents who
are professional photographers, writers and filmmakers. Goth began
taking photos in his early teens, and could independently take a black
and white photograph, process the film and make a handprint by the
age of fifteen.
His earlier work was an extension of his interest
in peoplefs hidden or private sides or fantasies which materialized
in the form of [mainly black and white] photographic portraits. His
influences include the black and white photographers from the e40s
onwards who made powerful statements with their portraits and fashion
photos, such as Francesco Scuvullo and Helmut Newton. Since coming
to Japan and his marriage in 2003 Goth is concentrating more on Art
photography and is compiling thousands of images he has taken candidly
on the streets and trains of Osaka [and other places] of the people
and their ecutef and sometimes crazy fashion. Japanese festivals,
places and traditions are increasingly his subjects. Recently Goth
is also becoming more drawn to abstract images. |
