Useful stuff to know!?!

Just a myriad collection of useful stuff and links.

Dealers, Shops, and Other Stuff...

Haneda Honda — Haneda Honda is a reputable dealership located on Kanpachi Dori very close to Haneda Airport. The owner, Mr. Sato speaks solid English, and as a result, most of the riders I know have either bought their bikes there, or know someone who has. They also do tours that are fun to join up. Mechanics are also qualified, and have racing qualifications themselves.

Red Baron Motorcycles Run by Yamaha, this is a nationwide new and used bike sales outlet. Not too much in the way of parts, but if you know what bike you want to buy, they will search nationwide for it, and ship it to your local store for you. Service is good while you're in warranty, and not so good once you have to start paying for (standard) service. If they speak English, you're lucky.

Information

TBS Traffic Report (Tokyo) — Before you head out the door, open this site to check the traffic of the Shuto expressways. Always good to see where the traffic is and re-route.

TBS Traffic Report (Kanto) Same as the above, but this version covers most of the Kanto area (Tomei, Kanetsu, Tohoku, and Kanto-Chiba roads, and then some!).

Tokyo Riders (Yahoo Groups) — A Yahoo Group of other riders in the Tokyo / Kanto area.

Kushitani — Aside from racing suits, they make great gear, from all weather suits, to leather and cordura winter sets, and of course, boots. High quality, and good service too.

The Japan Biker FAQ - This site provides a lot of basic and useful information to anyone who wants to get or already has a bike in Japan, covering licensing, insurance, road hazards, and lots of other really useful info. Well worth seeing.

Equipment and Gear

Kushitani — Aside from racing suits, they make great gear, from all weather suits, to leather and cordura winter sets, and of course, boots. High quality, and good service too.

NAPS — Forget Corin (who I've yet to have a positive customer experience with!), NAPS is the place to get your biking gear, whether clothing, tools, tires, or whatever, if NAPS doesn't have it, you don't want it..

Corin Shops (Ueno) While I have doubts about the quality of some of their stuff, if you're looking for something that is a common item, they probably have it in their 7-floor building in Ueno. Prices are average to high, and the staff are seldom knowledgable about non-Corin items. Of course, if you're asking about something a competitor is likely to have, they completely disavow any knowledge of it, and the Iraqi information minister would be proud of their performance. As such, I have removed the link to this outfit.

D's - This shop has unfortunately closed... RIP. Now there isn't much reason to go to Ueno.

Givi - Maker of hard shell touring luggage system and accessories. Waterproof, stable, and extremely useful, especially if you get into long distance touring.

Overseas Info

Aerostitch - Maker of reputable and solid all weather riding gear. Good reflective properties, waterproof, and padded. Highly recommended.

Belstaff - Maker of other reputable and solid riding gear. Primarily cordura based clothing, although they have other stuff. Nice and warm, and with enough pockets.

Marsee - Maker of solid looking riding gear.
