The Wornell Jones Story

America Sessions PUSHJapan Sessions

When you say the name Wornell Jones, you think of bassist, singer, writer and a lot more.

From the very beginning, the multitalented artist knew his life would be connected to music. From a child,

Wornell was always playing, singing, or doing something musical. Born in Washington D.C., he grew up in

the neighborhoods of "Chocolate City", feeling the funk and knowing his roots in blues, and R&B music. After playing

in local bands in D.C., Wornell branched out, doing studio sessions in the early seventies for people like Millie Jackson,

Joe Simon, and other greats. Soon it was time to move on to higher ground, Wornell began to tour with the likes of

Sly and the Family Stone, Eddie Kendricks and Grammy winner KoKo Taylor. It did'nt stop there, he began to write for

artists such as The Pointer Sisters and Earth, Wind & Fire. Always looking for a challange, he then joined forces with

songwriter, guitarist, Nils Lofgren formally of the E Street Band. Wornell recorded and toured extensivly with Nils,

until moving to Japan in the 80's.The story of Wornell Jones has many more chapters and this is only the beginning.
