Number

This is the kanji card number, uniquely identifying each kanji card. All kanji in KanjiLearn have a number, from 1 to 2135, and these numbers are the order in which I learned kanji from the beginning (using a serie of books for Japanese elementary school students called and published by Obunsha).

This number is not very meaningful in itself, except to quickly get an idea on which grade the kanji belongs to:

Cards numbered 1 to 80 are kanji of Grade 1 ().
Cards numbered 81 to 240 are kanji of Grade 2 ().
Cards numbered 241 to 440 are kanji of Grade 3 ().
Cards numbered 441 to 640 are kanji of Grade 4 ().
Cards numbered 641 to 825 are kanji of Grade 5 ().
Cards numbered 826 to 1006 are kanji of Grade 6 ().
Cards numbered 1007 to 1307 are kanji of Grade 7 ().
Cards numbered 1308 and more, I don't know, I haven't learned them yet...

KanjiNumberPopup.gif (20120 bytes) Upon clicking (left or default mouse button) on the number of a kanji card, a context sensitive popup menu displays as show on the right. This popup menu lists all kanji cards which number is in the [-5, +5] range of the current kanji card number, including kanji number, kanji character, kanji grade and kanji meaning. Selecting one of these listed kanji cards will switch KanjiLearn to that kanji card (and dismiss the popup menu).

The Goto card number... prompts you to enter a card number to switch KanjiLearn to a specific kanji card.

Note that this context sensitive popup menu is persistent and will close only when clicking on the Close menu item.
