NOTICE: Due to current base concerns over force protection we have, for the time being lost the annual pass for both our sensei. Miura sensei lives near enough to the base that he can work out a means of meeting us to be signed in each time he can attend practice. Sano sensei however is unable to and so we have temporarily lost his services. Miura sensei wants to keep practicing on base as much as possible for now. As needed however we will be moving classes off base to Keitenkan dojo. Expect us to end up on base one week, off base the following week, and to keep alternating as the year goes on. We hope the base will find a way to balance force protection with maintaining good relations with the local communities and things will return to normal some time in the near future. We are very thankful to former Mayor Ito of Akishima and the people of Akishima for welcoming us into his dojo and their city. Akishima is where our club started and it is where we are still welcome. It may be where we ultimately have to return should security become tighter on the base. We look forward to continuing to learn more about kendo and each other both on and off base. We would like to thank Miura sensei, Sano Sensei, the Akishima Kendo Federation, former Mayor Ito and his family, and all the other sensei, people of Akishima, friends, and supporters who have and continue to stand by us in the spirit of friendship, sportsmanship, and camaraderie.
