>> Japanese

Allow me to introduce my "nikkei-sansei" friend, Kuulei, who came to Japan sixteen years ago (for the first time). As her name implies, she is originally from Hawaii, a third-generation American of Japanese descent. She has acquired college degrees from Los Angeles, California and Chicago, Illinois and is a certified teacher with an earnest love for people and teaching, incorporated with her wonderful sense of humor. Her unique concept of teaching has worked for many of her students who, at first, could not speak any conversational English at all, but were able to gradually master it enough to be able to converse with foreigners, travel abroad and be able to shop, use the telephone, order at restaurants, and so forth, in English. I encourage you to take this rare opportunity to study with her because I'm sure you'll find it an interesting and enjoyable challenge with great results. She is truly a wonderful teacher and friend!

All Japanese students are required to study the English language for at least three to six years with an emphasis on grammar and vocabulary, but how many of them are actually able to carry on a conversation after those six years? It obviously doesn't necessarily work that way, taking the simple example of an infant who knows nothing about grammar but can soon speak conversationally! From my own experience, I had studied Japanese for two years in high school but I couldn't converse in Japanese. Yet, when I lived with my roommate from Iran, I was soon able to converse in Farsi without ever having studied her language! Through my concept of teaching, I have been able to help many people learn conversational English. I am seeking students who would "seriously like to have fun learning English conversation and/or the ukulele." For these students, I will give the best of my guidance in helping them learn in an enjoyable way. There will never be any tests; no stress. Classes will be fun and informal. I love teaching, and people who have a desire to learn English and/or the ukulele are very, very special to me.

Very sincerely yours,
Ku'ulei Mamo
