The connection - The Ryukyu Islands and Islands of Hawaii

There is a very big possibility that part of Japan and Hawaii was once connected as one continent. When I first read translated edition of "Kahuna Healing" I understood or could recognize everything Serge wrote like I knew it from before. It was like my stored memory was coming back from a very deep part. I was so excited! More interestingly, Kenji Misaki who translated this book has written about the similarity between Japanese Shinto and Hawaiian Shamanism. That made me understand how I was so drawn into the Hawaiian ancient knowledge and raised my curiosity to find out more about it.

The biggest interest was the underwater ruins in Yonaguni Island the very end of the chains of Ryukyu Islands, closest to Taiwan. To give you a brief geology of this Ryukyu Islands, there are more than 60 islands including the largest Okinawa island and the geological history is said to be about 5 to 1.7millions years ago when it acutally became seperated from the Asian continent when the sea level rose. As the earth repeats several upheavals the Ryukyu islands went under water here and there, and what we see today has remained the same from somewhat 5000 to 13000BP. Just to compare, origin of the Earth is about 4.6 billion BP and Kauai is around 5.1 million BP.

The other biggest interest, Island of Kudaka is a popluation of 300. Small island on the very east of Okinawa Island. About 20 mins of boat ride from the nearest harbor. It is an utopia where people equally share land and food. Noro, shaman, still exist here and still maintains the traditional rituals and ceremonies to send appreciation to the gods and goddesses, and pray peace for the world. This island is said to be the first island made in Ryukyu. The most sacred island where people of Okinawa will never go without any special spiritual reason.

Here are some of the traces of the trip in the Rukyu Islands to show you the similarities of Hawaii and Ryuku ancient shamanism and traces of Mu. Two of the most energetically interesting and sacred, remote islands: Kudaka and Yonaguni

I first went to Sefu-Utaki (Utaki is like Heiau, sacred place) .
Entrance to the Ryuku must start here to say aloha to the gods.
You enter and go thru this triangluar space (between two giant rocks)
This Utaki is still a young one compared to the ones in Kudaka island.
But it was made on the Okinawa island when Ryukyu castle was on this island around 500 years ago and it is now the most biggest and well known.

Then you see this scene. Its a small space where you can see Kudaka, where people call the Gods' Island, between the heart shaped open area. Here you come before you go to Kudaka to ask for permission.
Meditate towards the island and wait until you get a feeling of permission.

The picture below shows what the lady shaman so called Noro did in this place for purification and blessings.

Tama-gusuku, It is a remain of a castle but it was meant to be more that just a castle. There is a heiau like area in here too. Like many gusuku enterance, this place has very small arch shaped entrance up on a hill . Located on Okinawa Island -south east.

Shaman on Island of Kudaka, so called Noro in Okinawa language.
In Okinawa all chief shamans are always female. She(right: Nae Maeda) is the only official Noro on this sacred island today.

The launguage on this Island is different from Okinawan.
It is said to be closer to Sanskrit(Indian).

This big tree in her garden was a place for the chief Noro in the last genertaion to get insipration. She had special ability to look into the future. She would clime into the tree every day to receive information. Her land along with the tree has been given to make elementry school. Children here are blessed never gets into trouble.

This is where God Amamikiyo, first landed. The god who made Ryukyu.
This island is where Ryukyu started. It is the most sacred place of
the island, and there are times when you are not alound to enter
this area. Noone is aloud to enter, seven day after someone past away or seven days after a birth on this island, . Woman during her period is also not
aloud and other certain days accourdingly to the moon calendar.

This is the piko(navel) of Amamikiyo. Resides the same area on the left. It is as big as one person can sit inside.
When the tide is low, you can go in and sit and you will
reborn. Woman who wants to get pregnant will get pregnant.

Most photos below are from a book titled "Diving Survey Report for Submarine Ruins Off Yonaguni, Japan" by Prof.Masaaki Kimura, Univ. of the Ryukyus

Island of Yonaguni is closest to Taiwan western-most of
all Ryukyu chain where the red mark is.

This is the whole construction of the underwater ruins
found at the north-east area of Yonaguni. It could be the largest and oldest remains ever found in the world. It is only 10~20m deep and one part can be seen above the surface. 250 meter long east-west, 150 meters long north-south, 26 meters high and 25 meters under water.

The under water ruins is right under the mouth of this mo'o. Almost as if the mo'o is watching over it. Every headland of this island looked defintely like a mo'o. You could even find ears and eyes and where the leg starts... It seems so alive.. I thinks its alive..just turned into a rock, they are seeing everything and listening to every thing... and one day soon, it's going to start moving. That is how I felt.

This is on the same side from the Iseki(ruins). Tategami-iwa.
- God in standing posture. This was the most powerful energy
I have ever felt! The magnetic energy of this rock was
just amazing. I could not leave this place for a long long
time. The energy was so strong it was overwhelming.
It looks like the Moai statues on Easter Island
- They are all alive -

An eagle drawn on the rock. 10 x 20 meters.
Ryuku believed in God Onari, a bird god that looked after the
island from above.

This one also looks like the Polynesian statue.
This one has a sticking out tongue. In Polynesian
it is known as a way to greet.
It looks like he is saying hello doesn't it ?
He is even winking ☆

The two rocks in the middle is 7 meters long and a meter(3.3 feet) thick. It is located after you go throug an arch shaped entrance like place.
It looks like an entrance hall and this two rocks may have been some kind of a monument or to give a powerful impression.

There are at least three turtle shaped stones cut-outs.
This one is a giant turtle - see the right corner

This is a drawing showing a wall on the

Large and small rocks combined. This type of
walls are also seen in Polynesia.

Here are some more photos I took: Ryuku weaving; Minsa - very interesting patterns. It feels like Universal Language!

This blue is the color of the ocean. The gradation is so beautiful. It really is exactly how you see the ocean in Okinawa.

It is woven in many othre colors
but the simple ones were my favorites! Mono tones are
the old style.

This pattern shown on the left is the most famous and its meaning is so beautiful . Just like Huna it represents the male and female concept. The pattern on top is a five -male, and other is a four-female. When you put two together it makes a perfect square. It shows the balance of the two
and the straight line on the sides is making sure they are alined. Many other symbolic patterns exists shown as right and below.

The rest of the story is up to your imagination !!

Enjoy ~

Aloha and thank you for coming to my page
