Camp Akikawaya
|
|
The river Akiyamagawa flows into the Sagami River at Hizure Ôhashi in central Fujino, and Camp Akikawaya can be found nearby, just a few hundred meters upstream, beside the Akiyama Bridge. The campground is a civilized affair, in a lovely spot beside the Akiyama River; only, it's so near (about two minutes' drive from my house) that I could never imagine actually camping there. But lots of people do; it's actually quieter than I thought, once you leave the main road and go down into the campground itelf. Just don't expect to find wild nature with lots of privacy. The facilities include a small area for pitching tents, as well as several cabins (foreground) and a minshuku, the Akikawaya. Rental rowboats are also available, and spaces for day camping (both for fee).
Fees: Cabins from ¥5,400
Telephone (Japanese only): 0426-87-2030 Fax: 0426-87-4199
If you have a computer that supports display of Japanese characters, you can see the camp's own Japanese-language website with more up-to-date information at Akikawaya Website.
