Camp Akiyamagawa and Hizure District

Called Tenguiwa or "Tengu Rock" after a local legend, the point in the top photo is situated at the confluence of the Akiyama and the Sagami Rivers, just beside the bridge Hizure Ôhashi in central Fujino. The Sagami River enters Lake Sagami about one kilometer downstream, almost at Fujino's border with neighboring Sagamiko Township.

The second and third photos were also taken on the Akiyama River, but just a bit farther upstream.

Fujino puts on its best face from late March, with the plum and cherry blossoms, until late December, when the last leaves fall from the trees. Winter brings exceptionally clear skies and crisp, dry air, but the mountains tend toward dullish brown and are not very attractive during those months.
