Fujino Workshop for Art
|
|
Fujino Workshop for Art was built by Kanagawa Prefecture as part of its ambitious Art Resort Fujino Initiative. Designed by architect Senda Mitsuru and his Environment Design Studios (recipient of Prize for Excellence in the 23rd Tokyo Architectural Concours), the Workshop for Art suggests the image of an Italian villa lying in a bowl shaped by green valleys between low mountains and their mixed-tree forests. Serving as central focus for artistic and leisure activities in Fujino, the Workshop for Art is furnished with facilities for wood-working, pottery, glasswork and other crafts, as well as a 300-seat accoustically correct auditorium, sound-proof rehearsal studios, reasonably priced overnight accommodations, a restaurant, and outdoor recreation and camping/picnic area.
