Fujino IC
Sagamiko-Fujino IC

The first time I came to Fujino, I somehow expected to be driving for untold hours after passing Hachiôji. After all, Hachiôji and Takao are the end of the world, and beyond that, you fall off. But no! I was shocked to find that just 8 or 9 minutes after passing the Hachiôji toll gate you come to the Kobotoke Tunnel, and just four or five minutes after leaving the tunnel you're already at the Sagamiko-Fujino interchange (No. 8). The IC entrance is only 3-4 minutes' drive from JR Fujino station.

I had driven past Fujino on the Chûô Expresway many times before, but had never noticed Fujino. It's easy to miss, admittedly, but it is much more convenient to Tokyo than people realize. We normally make it back from the Gyôen-mae IC in Tokyo in under 45 minutes.
