Fujino Workshop for ArtFirst opened in 1995, the Fujino Workshop for Art was built by Kanagawa Prefecture as centerpiece of the ambitious Fujino Art Resort Initiative. A multi-purpose facility, the Workshop combines accoustically correct auditorium (Creation Hall), a crafts workshop, overnight facilities and restaurant, seminar rooms, sound promenade, sound-proof rehearsal studios, and outdoor recreation space. With an appearance resembling an Italian villa, it is a lovely site, especially in the fall. Unfortunately, the plans did not include sufficient space for parking, and since Fujino offers no official shuttle service to the station, large-scale outdoor performances and concerts at Creation Hall sometimes result in minor traffic jams. My personal wish is that the prefecture would expend the money for a permanent stage to allow outdoor concerts and dramas to be performed "on the green" in summer.
