A Time For Service

Here's today's photo of the AOC (Altman Oatmeal Cookie) Team - Harry, official masher and taster, gathered at Altmans house to bake goodies to sell at the Zentsuji Kyodan Church Bazaar on November 29 -.Harry's favorite cookies plus cakes and mashed sweet potatoes, a Japanese favorite. Harry will be wearing an apron at the bazaar with other male church members( a rare sight in Japan), cooking and serving udon (noodles) and other lunch treats from 12 to 3pm. It is a time not only when other churches (Kotohira Kyodan church) pitch in and help, but when neighborhood non-christians who have seen only the church and the steeple, get to "open the doors and see all the people". Harry is proud to donate to the bazaar tables his framable 8x10 photographs of seaside sunsets and flowers with Bible verses printed on them, quick sellers at the recent university festival.

Picture of Messiah Concert

SCC & Han Nam University present a joint concert in Japan at SCC and at Han Nam University in Korea Annually

Hallelujah! An unlikely phrase to come from a meeting of Japanese and Koreans during the past century, but at Shikoku Gakuin University, this and many more joyful phrases will be sung by these SGU students and Han Nam U students who arrived Nov 30 for a week of rehearsals before the annual concert. Music hath the power to soothe even the savage beast of history it appears.
