Missionaries: Frank and Mary Kay Sapp
Kozoji is a town on the Chuo line of the JR Railroad in the surburbs of Nagoya. By car, it is about 30 minutes from downtown Nagoya. Kozoji is considered by Japanese to be a small town as it only has a population of about 250,000.
The Kozoji chapel is the daughter of the Kasugai Reformed Church. PC(USA) missionary Frank Sapp has been the pastor during his last term. During the last five years, the "first unit," 40 x 40 foot two-story building on a lot approximately 50 x 50 feet has already been purchased by the Chapel's members.

In July, Kozoji Church called and installed its first Japanese Pastor.
In order to do this the Mother Church (with less than 90 members) budgeted an additional four million yen (about $40.000.00) annually to help with the salary and benefits of the new pastor.
There is an average attendance of 25 presently. But with its excellent location and the trained and dedicated Elders, Deacons, and Teachers, and with God's blessing, we have every reason to believe it will grow into a vital witnessing congregation. We can thank the Kasugai Church and its pastor Rev. Mitani for the excellent leaders who came from the mother church. The planning and preparation of Rev. Mitani and his session has been thorough and careful. 
While the Sapps were on Itineration assignment in the States during 1997-8, the church decided to erect a cross which would be able to be seen throughout much of the community. A deacon in the congregation who is an electrician had an aluminum frame constructed and with the aid of others in the congregation filled the cross with about 500 diodes which glow brightly at night lighting the cross so that it can be seen from a great distance.
