1980
Yearbook
Ms.
Lynnelle (Baker) Puzzitiello
I
have lived in Strongsville, Ohio for 21 years. I went to Miami U. and
majored in systems analysis. Married a 1980 Strongsville graduate in 1984
(it's been 21 years!) - we met at Miami U. (Rick Puzzitiello). I worked in
my field for 5 years and now at home with our 3 great children: Lauren (16),
Ricky (14) and Ryland (11). My husband is a developer/homebuilder in
Cleveland and Florida (Parkview
Homes).
We love to golf and ski. We have a place in Ellicottville, NY and ski a lot
in the winter.
Rick
has recovered from a bad ski accident and surgery in March where he broke his
leg after hitting a tree - we are very thankful it was only his leg. My
skiing now brings back a ton of old memories of skiing with Jeff Slater,
Fletcher, Suzy and Erica and our trip to NY. We now have wonderful memories
with our children.

Ms. Elaine (Barcus) Dawson
ÒI
am continuing on in my pursuit of a BA in psychology. I am still working from
home and trying to balance work, family, and college, as well as being the
primary caregiver for my 86-year-old mother (living with us), now in the
early stages of Alzheimer's disease.
My
husband continues to work for a commercial distributor in sales, after
leaving a regional sales/managerial position in 10/07. We are adjusting (?)
to him no longer being on the road!
My oldest
son's Marine reservist unit has been notified that they will be activated
12/5/09, with Afghanistan as the destination after a few weeks of intensive
training. He will continue his education at Columbus State in the meantime,
rather than Miami of Ohio, as the quarter schedule format will be more in
sync with his departure to Afghanistan.
My
younger son (middle child) is ending his freshman year in high school, having
done extremely well academically. He continues to play club soccer
(Worthington Crew Juniors) as well as for the JV team for Olentangy High
School.
My
daughter (youngest) is finishing up her 7th grade year and did extremely well
academically as well. She is finishing up her last season of club soccer
(Crew Juniors) until 9th grade, taking 8th grade off to participate in
cross-country in the fall and track in the spring.
We added
a schnoodle puppy (Shadow) to our family in December. We also have a
4-yr-old schnoodle (Sandy).Ó

Deceased

Mr.
D. Bade provided us with information on this sad news.
According
to Mr. Bade, ÒChris would have graduated with the class of 1980 had he not
graduated early (I believe he graduated 6 months early, but I'm not
positive). Chris attended both Fairwood and Roehm. The News Sun (May
3, 2007) said that Chris enjoyed walking and hanging out in the park near his
home in Berea.Ó
An
Internet search showed that Chris was 45, and was survived by his parents and
two sisters.
Ms.
Catherine (Bender) Smith
ÒCathy
lives in Stone Mountain, Georgia (outside Atlanta) with her husband Steve and
their 8-year-old daughter, Ava. After graduating from Berea, she attended
Mount Union College in Alliance, OH and then went on to Emory University in
Atlanta so that she could eventually get her dream job at the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Cathy has been a molecular
epidemiologist with the Influenza Branch at the CDC since 1991 and loves
being on the front lines of disease surveillance. Currently, I am training
both domestic and international scientists how to identify and characterize
influenza viruses. When free time permits, she loves to travel, whitewater
kayak and canoe, attend Scottish Highland Games (as my daughter is a Highland
dancer) and spend time in the outdoors.Ó

'06); and their 2-year-old son, Brendan (prime example of the "terrible
twos", but Bruce loves him).
She
and Bruce dated in school on and off and they met again at the BHS 1980
20-year reunion. They married in July of 2001.

note: You
may remember that Nathan had a big fight with cancer in 2005. There were
fund-raisers locally and there was one at the 25th reunion in Aug. 2005. How
is he now? See the family photo and judge for yourself. He recovered and as
of July, 2006, he was back doing all his regular things. He even had a good
season on the baseball team.
Once
again, Bruce and Jean say they really do appreciate the kind thoughts and
concern they received from "old" classmates.

Ms.
B. (Burrill) Seidel
"After
graduation, I went on to graduate from Trinity University in San Antonio in
1984 with a degree in Sociology and a minor in Religion. I then moved
to New Jersey and worked in Manhattan. However, having a great sense of
self-preservation, I chose not to go into social work in New York City and
used my degree in the Human Resources field instead. I married my
husband, Norman, in 1989, and my eldest child, Lloyd (18), was born in Hackensack,
NJ in 1991. Since we weren't about to raise our son in New Jersey, we
moved back to Berea.
My next
two children were born in Ohio - Ethan (15) and Paige (10). I worked
for New York Life in the service center in Lakewood for several years, until
we decided to move to Guntersville, Alabama, where I currently reside (yup -
for those of you who are avid fisher-persons, I'm on the lake). I'm
working part time as a church secretary and the rest of the time as a mom.
Lloyd is a senior now, Ethan's a sophomore and Paige is going into 5th
grade. They are all involved in music - the boys play 6 instruments
between them and Paige has taken after her mother and sings - and Ethan and
Paige are also involved in sports... track and volleyball respectively.
I'm fortunate that all three of them are straight A students, so I
don't have to worry about their academics. My husband drives trucks for
a local company, so even though he's in an 18-wheeler, he's home every night.
We currently have 3 dogs and a cat - which means that despite my best
efforts, I'm certifiably insane.Ó

ÒSo
much has happened in the past #$@%^ years! I graduated from BHS in 1980, went
on that summer to BGSU for a degree in Elementary Education. The first
semester at BG my father passed away suddenly. I briefly moved back to Berea
to hang with my mom and make sure she was ok before returning to BG. Three
years into my education with no cash left I decided to Join the Ohio Army
National Guard to help me finish my education. I was a weekend warrior for
about 3 years until finally going full time in the Guard. I was working at a
Flight Facility in Akron Ohio, Dayton, Ohio, Killeen Texas, Toledo Ohio, for
approximately 14 years. I finally got out of the National Guard and Decided
to go back to school for another degree. I attended Kent State University and
graduated in 2000 with a BFA in Graphic Design. I worked in the creative
field for about seven years doing everything from Website Design, Package
Design, Catalog Design, Print Material, National Advertising Campaigns, TV
Commercials, Fine Art Photography, and Commercial Photography.
Three
years ago while visiting a friend in Santa Fe New Mexico I stepped foot into
my first Whole Foods Market and walked out saying I will one day work for
this company. I am now with Whole Foods Market working as an IT/Systems
integrator coordinator (I fix computers, computer networking, and run the
technical aspects of the location), I also produce the infomercials and
cooking shows for the Cleveland location amongst other fun activities. (I
wanted to at least get my foot in the door) I love it here, the company is
awesome! Potentials are endless. Someday I may be in London or at one of the
Regional Headquarters working as a Designer for Whole Foods Market.
In
October I lost my mother at the age of 80 it was a very sad day. Any of you
that had the pleasure of meeting her or knowing her will know what a
fantastic woman she was. I never married, and am enjoying my life every day.
In my spare time I do some freelance design, photography, ride mountain
bikes, play with my fabulous labradoodle Tegan, I have cookouts with friends,
kayak, and just have a blast! I am living in the Lakewood area very close to
Edgewater State Park. You can find me on or near the water in the summer,
flying a kite in the fall, riding my bike in the spring, and hibernating in
the winter with my furry friendsÉ. LIFE IS GOOD!Ó
