about her former husband and made a request: Tom Miller passed away November 5, 2008, following an

1980
Yearbook He has been living in the Chicago area for the
last seven years. His wife,
Cherie, is a native of Philippines. "We've
had a terrific year. Our eldest son,
Kanoa, is 13yrs old, doing great in school and playing the violin. Our second son, Korey, is just 20
months old and having a great time.
We all will be traveling to the Philippines in November to see [my
wife's family] ... We're saving our pennies and looking forward to the trip.
This will be my first time back to Asia in over 10 years. As
for work, I'm currently the academic dean here at Prairie
State Communty College, working with the Social Sciences Dept. and
Math Dept. as well as overseeing instructional technology (online
courses). The work is very
different from faculty work. I
am enjoying the break from teaching, although I continue to teach an online
course." (Info as of Nov. 2006)
1980 Yearbook The
fuzzy "now" is c. 2003 from the Internet. ÒAfter
nearly half a century I am still working on settling down to something
resembling a normal existence. It has been an exciting rollercoaster ride
since I left BHS with plenty of highs and lows. It feels like I have lived
several lives since then. I went to college at Case Western Reserve and even
though it was just across town it seemed like it was a world away.
Five years of academia taught me I didnÕt want to stay in school so I took my
shiny new anthropology degree and became an environmental scientist. I work
as an archaeologist, supervising research and writing up my fieldwork for
projects throughout Ohio and the neighboring states. I have also managed to
do a good bit of work at various Maya sites in Belize, including a few stints
on a National Geographic expedition. We went deep into the rainforested Maya
Mountains and except for the time I almost got eaten by wild pigs, it was one
of the most positive experiences in my life. Needless to say I spend much of
my time away from home, which is and has been Lakewood, Ohio for about twenty
years now. For fun I cook, brew beer,
race yachts, go out to see local bands, attend art openings, scuba dive,
camp, canoe, and most recently ride my bicycle. I had a wife, who I met just
after college, but we broke up and divorced about ten years ago. Fortunately
it was before we had any kids. I hardly touched my cello after high school,
but I kept up with my singing through college. I performed at Severance Hall
once and got to do a gig with the Dave Brubeck Quartet (the mid 80s ensemble)
at the Cleveland Institute of Music, but being in the field so much I cannot
keep a rehearsal schedule and had to give it up. I didnÕt swim at Case
Western, but took up fencing, which was totally cool; I even got to fence
some Olympians. As with so many things, I have gotten away from that as well.
What else...there is a little art collecting, the occasional nature
photography, sporadic blogging, hanging out at museums, but I guess that is
most of it. I do look back at my life and see it as pretty full of
extraordinary experiences, but I also see a lot more in my future, so I donÕt
think I have quite peaked yet, stubbornly holding to the hope that my best
years are not behind me.Ó (Info. as of Feb. 2009)

Best Years are Ahead After spending the first 2 years after HS
driving tow trucks and racing cars, Ron raised his right hand became a
Security Policeman in the US Air Force.
During his tenure, he did tours in England, Albuquerque, NM, South
Korea, and Dayton, Ohio. He also
spent 89 days in Saudi Arabia where he was rewarded the "Air Force
Commendation Medal for Valor" after surviving, and responding to, the

A situation which he states totally redefined his life. Prior to retiring in Nov 2002, he performed
additional duties in Law Enforcement, Combat Intelligence, base-level
