Mr. Tom Madzy (vo-ed, football
coach) retired from BHS in 1993.
He had been the football coach there for 26 years. In Oct. 1997, he died of cancer at
the age of 60. Click on his name
to see photos of him at a day in his honor a few weeks before his death. Mr. Madzy also won the 1996 Grindstone Award given by the city of
Berea each year to a distinguished citizen.

1979 -1980 schoolyear was his first year at Berea HS, so he only had the one
year to get to know the students of the Class of '80. This

C. Nelson
(librarian) died at a care center in Columbus OH on Jan. 26, 2009 at the age
of 85, according to an obituary in The Plain Dealer. He had formerly lived in Berea. He
left a son. He was an army vet
of World War Two who had been involved with D-Day. (Info. as of Apr. 2009)

B. Ogilvie
(golf coach) retired from the school district after 30 years. He has 5 kids and 8 grandkids. He lives in the Cleveland area. HeÕs a BHS 1964 grad. (Updated June 2009)

With his wife c. 2009 Mr. J. Ollila (diving coach and phys. ed) lives in NE
Ohio. He is retired from the
school district, but he still coaches diving for a private company. He
coached over 14 high school all-American divers in his 30 years as the diving
coach at Berea High and never had a losing season in diving. (Info. as of June 2008)
