Earl Grey tea is named after the famous Prime Minister, said to have brought back the recipe for this fruit flavoured tea after a trip to China. However, since the Earl never visited China in person, the recipe is more likely to have been obtained by Sir George Staunton, during his visit in 1793.
Whatever the truth, this fine tea flavoured with pure oil of bergamot (an Italian orange from Calabria) is refreshing and relaxing at any time of day. Enjoy it with milk or without.
