This shows my unergonomically-correct chair as well as what we did with items that previously hung in the closet. That piece of cloth hanging to the side of my chair is to stop the textured wall paint from rubbing off on the back of my chair when I swivel too far. The walls are covered with some atrocious nubby bits of paint which look like fine lumpy oatmeal. It can't be cleaned as moisture makes it simply fall right off the wall (as it has in several spots where it has gone damp behind shelves or other furniture). It also can't be painted over. The best you can do is vacuum it but that also tends to make bald spots on the wall if it flakes off too much. I'm not sure what the point of this sort of wall covering is but it's the worst. The lampshade, btw, is a 100 yen shop desk lamp shade repurposed to cover the bare bulb hanging in the middle of the room. BTW, the storage at the top of the closet (which can be seen on the left) is where we keep suitcases, Christmas decorations, posters we want to take back to the U.S. and boxes for equipment we aren't ready to toss out yet.
