NETWORKING JAPAN One of the keys to success in any market is a strong network of contacts and resources. So where do you go to meet the movers and shakers shaping the marketplace in Japan? The list below provides you with a great starting point

The American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ)
The ACCJ promotes business between Japan and America. It has more than 2,700 members representing over 1000 companies from a wide range of industries. Their in-depth monthly journal is the most authoritative source for foreigners doing business in Japan. They hold monthly meetings, and various committees focus on issues in the computing industry. Earlier this year, the Economist magazine reported:
A recent survey... found that expatriate managers of all nationalities thought a local American chamber was the most important organization to join, more important even than one of their own national associations... The reason was that the American chambers were seen as being big enough to be noticed by local officials and the best briefed. (March 29, 1997)
