Quakers and the Vietnam War Years

Possibly the most important and longest lasting programs of the 1960s were those related to Vietnam. Both the Peace Education, International Affairs and International Services Divisions were involved in a variety of projects to address the Vietnamese controversy. On the domestic scene, the Peace Education Division sponsored visitations to congress people, demonstrations and other protests related to the war in Indochina. The International Services Division sent medical equipment to North Vietnam and medical supplies to South Vietnam. It initiated the volunteer work at Quang Ngai Hospital in South Vietnam. The International Relations Division was involved by virtue of the many diplomats' conferences and other events of similar nature where the issue was discussed. Large groups of records related to this work are included in the archives.
