Quakers in Tokyo

Meeting Time and Location

We meet at 10:30 AM every First Day (Sunday) at:

Tokyo Monthly Meeting & Friends Center
4-8-19 Mita
Minato-ku, Tokyo 108
Japan

A member of our group will greet you at the door and direct you to the meeting room. Enter the room and take a seat. Silent worship has already begun. There are no expectations of you, other than to join us in our search for truth, prayerfully consider any vocal ministry given, and to respect our traditions. In keeping with Quaker simplicity, worshippers tend to dress casually.

After the hour we share our friendship over an inexpensive snack lunch.

A bilingual study group on Quaker Thought & Tradition meets on the second Sundays of each month following the snack lunch until 2:00 p.m.

How to reach us from Narita (New Tokyo) International Airport and elsewhere in Tokyo:

  • Limousine bus to Takanawa Prince Hotel, then taxi to the Friends Center and Tokyo Meeting House
  • Keisei Line to Aoto Station, then change trains to Keihin Kyuko Line or to the Toei Asakusa Line to Sengakuji Station (exit A3); then walk to Isarago intersection and take a right at the intersection; the Friends Center will be on the left
  • Keisei Line to Nippori Station, then change trains to the JR Yamanote station for Tamachi Station, passing through Tokyo Station on your way to Tamachi.
  • Anywhere on the circular, green train Yamanote line will eventually take you to Tamachi Station.  Many subways intersect this train line.

Meeting for Worship for Business

The first First Day of the month is our business meeting, known as Meeting for Worship for Business. It is a continuation (after a light snack) of a Meeting for Worship. You are invited to stay and observe the unique way Quakers do business.
