McLaren Paddock at midnight
When we went to the Ferrari garage, they closed the shatter straight away.On the other hand, McLaren mechanics did not care at all as long as we kept a reasonable distance. A mechanic even answered to us when we greeted him saying "Guddo Ibuningu (Good Evening)".
The very gentle mechanic who replied to us was working on the car without a word and other mechanics walking by him with a pair of chop sticks and a polystyrene bowls for "Udon" (Japanese noodle) in their hands. It was very relaxed and certainly a very different world to that of an intense race situation.A very simple question of "why Udon??" came across the mind of a High school boy.
The good old "banana" wings. Looking just at the picture, it looks like as if it is in the middle of making TAMIYA's 1/12 scale models, but at the time, I was amazed at seeing the 1/1 scale wings for real.
I was looking through the photos a few years back and realized that there is thought to be the previous year's world champion, James Hunt at the back of the paddock in the photo.
I wonder if the world champion ate his Udon using chop sticks as well.
