I see this plant everyday as I walk to Yokohama Station. It is
a vine that flowers at the end of summer with small white flowers about
1cm long which turn into small berries. As I write it is still flowering
now.
Sometime in 1997 when I first noticed it, I decided to buy a book on Japanese wild flowers to find out more about it, especially what it was called . I was showing the book to friends when they said, "Have you seen what it is called in Japanese? It's the Farty-Shit-Weed!". This is what the characters of the Japanese name literaly translate to. |
