Anne Coombes trained at St. Martin's School of Art in London and has been a professional set and costume designer for the past twenty years.
She has worked on a variety of theatre productions from Shakespeare to Dario Fo. She has also designed for film and opera with directors such as Tony Richardson and Michael Black, and actors such as Helen Mirren and John McKelvey.
She received an award for costumes at the Cannes Film Festival together with designer Gwen Kaiser for the film "Pictures".
Anne received a grant from the Arts Council to study Japanese theatre. As well as working for Tokyo Actors Repertory Company Anne has designed the costumes for Verdi's opera "Macbeth" and has worked with Kazuo Ono and Marillia on a Buto/Poetry production.
Anne has just completed the costumes for the January 1998 Haiyu-za Theatre Production of "Romeo and Juliet".
