PYRO-SCULPTURE is an urban manifestation
of auto-destructive sculpture. The sculptures are human effigies which are
fabricated from every day materials: aluminium foil and steel wire.
The Pyrosculpture World Tour was held from April to May 1996. Jack McLean
is now back in Tokyo preparing for the next eventful event!
The activity was conducted over a duration of a few weeks in 1996 when
Jack McLean and a member of the Faculty of Transient Identity made a tour
of the following cities:

The PYRO-SCULPTURES are taken to selected urban sites chosen from the
metropolises of the world - which we consider to be of cultural significance
in relation to the PYROSCULPTURE SERIES. Thus in each city we will conduct
a reconnaissance of the current viability and suitability of all of the
preferred locations.
Once 'installed' at their specfic location, the sculptures are immediately
burned in kerosine.
Since the actual art work is irrecoverably lost in it's moment of violent
display. The entire series will be recorded on video 8 for a forthcoming
documentary, while simultaneously being reported on this internet site.
We recieved a message from the "Faculity
of Transient Identity" concerning the Pro-Sculpure Exhibits (335 kb
aiff file).
