What is Christianity?
Christianity is a set of beliefs, values and a way of life.
Beliefs: Christians believe that Jesus Christ is savior, Lord
and God’s only son. Christians worship Jesus Christ,
who was crucified, died, but rose again after three days.
To his suffering we compare our own, and by his miraculous
power we also depend on Christ to clean us from the power
of death (sin) and to help us in time of need. Christians
have access to the Holy Spirit, God’s power that Christ
gave to all believers when he ascended to heaven.
Values: Because Christians believe that
truth and life can only be found in Jesus, we live by certain
standards in order to model a Christ-like life. We believe
that we should love our neighbor (and even our enemy) as we
do ourselves, we try to be compassionate and caring and provide
honorable examples to other people, whilst sharing the good
news. These sense of values about good living lay deep at
the heart of our relationship with Christ.
Way of Life: Christianity has the power
to change people. Christians go to Church to worship every
Sunday and often take part in other fellowship activities
and Bible studies. Reading the Bible is important for Christians,
as is a regular commitment to prayer. Christians also get
involved in mission or teaching activities that spread the
good news, and they give a percentage of their time and money
as a commitment to the church and it’s cause. |
