>>Children's Christian Education
"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom
of God belongs to such as these" (Mark 10:14)
Tokyo Union Church offers an active Children’s Ministry Program, the foundation
being Sunday School held from 9:45 – 10:45 each Sunday from September through
May.
Angels Class: Sunday School for children aged 3- 5
With Hands On Bible Curriculum, the children are engaged through their senses
using a variety of methods such as music, crafts and Bible lessons that draw
kids into God’s Word and closer to Jesus. An adult volunteer teaches the same
lesson for a one month commitment offering consistency for the children. Classes
are held on the 4th Floor in an Early Learning Center classroom from 9:45.

Kingdom Come Kids (KCK): Sunday School for children aged 6 - 11
This dynamic program, based on a workshop rotation model, gets rave reviews from
children and adults alike. Each rotation, lasting four to five weeks, covers a
single Bible story, which is explored through such activities as games,
storytelling, cooking, science, crafts, and music. Adult volunteers teach the
same segment for the duration of the 4-to- 5 week rotation, with adjustments
made based on the age group. Due to the structure and diversity of the
curriculum, children are able to work with and learn from a dynamic group of
individuals. KCK is held in the Fellowship Hall in the basement level of the
church building from 9:45.
Children in Church
Children are always welcome in the worship services at TUC. Children’s Ministry
strives to support parents as they guide their children into the joys of
worship. Every Sunday morning during both worship services, Good News for Kids,
a 5-minute sermon for children, is given by a pastor or someone involved in
Children’s Ministry. Age appropriate Worship Bags are available for children
during the worship services as well as Children’s Bulletins to help keep
children focused during worship.
Throughout the year, there are special events during the services that pay
tribute to children and their interests, such as singing and musical recitals,
lector reading and drama.

Children not in Worship
Children aged 3-7, who are not yet able to sit comfortably through an entire
service, are invited to join the Worship Child Care (WCC) immediately following
Good News for Kids at the 8:30 and 11:00 services.
During the 11:00 service we divide the children according to age; the 3 years
olds – Kindergarten children have music time, a bible story, an accompanying
craft, and a Veggie Tales video if time allows. The 6 & 7 year old class also
has a bible story with discussion, lessons regarding worship service and bible
related games.
WCC is held on the 4th floor in an Early Learning Center classrooms.
Sunday Nursery
Staffed by friendly professionals, the Sunday Nursery looks after children aged
3 and younger, from the start of the 8:30 a.m. service until the end of the 11
a.m. service.
Vacation Bible School
VBS 2009 is scheduled for August 10 – 14 from 9:00am to 12:00pm.
This year’s theme is Crocodile Dock, where children will develop a sense of
God’s loving presence. They’ll see evidence of his power, and they’ll know God
is alive . . . and active . . . and with them!
