He is well acquainted with international church ministry, having served previously as the Senior Pastor of The American Protestant Church of The Hague in the Netherlands, The American Church in Paris, France, and, from 1997- 2001, at Tokyo Union Church. He has also served Presbyterian congregations in South Dakota, Delaware, Montana, and Pennsylvania.
Pastor Barry received his undergraduate degree in political science, and he still enjoys surveying the landscape of global political events. He completed his Master of Divinity degree at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and also earned a master’s degree in pastoral counseling from Duquesne University. His Doctor of Ministry degree, with concentrations in church revitalization and spiritual leadership, was awarded by McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois.
He and his wife, Shelly, are the parents of three children: Brad, Evan, and Bethany. For many years the Dawson family has been passionate about local and global mission. They have served in Tokyo Union Church’s Rice Project for the homeless, led mission service teams in Mexico and throughout the United States, and also worked on Habitat for Humanity building projects in Poland, Northern Ireland, and Romania.
He invites you to come and experience the joys of developing friendships and sharing in ministry with Christians from around the world who gather each week at Tokyo Union Church.
