Tashkent is the capital of Uzbekistan. It was destroyed in an earthquake in 1966, and rebuilt "Soviet" style, so it's not very interesting.
This is a theater in central Tashkent. It is possibly notable because it was built with the help of Japanese prisoners-of-war in the area.
This is the central Tashkent bazaar. All Uzbekistan cities have these incredible, bustling, bazaars, where you can buy anything. In the Tashkent bazaar, I especially noticed the area where ethnic Koreans were selling stuff like kim-chi. The best thiing about these bazaars: everything can be sampled for free!
This is the monument to Navoi, known as the father of the Uzbek language. He was the first one to write Uzbek, using Arabic script. He wrote many great poems.
