トップ(top) ウースターのトップウースター（第一期） ピクルス皿 (1755-60年頃）
A Worcester (First Period) Pickle Dish Ca.1755-60
ウースター初期のホタテの貝殻を模したピクルス皿である（ウースター(W8)を参照）。ウースターは1754年にはロンドンのアルダースゲイト通り(Aldersgate Street:現在の金融街City周辺)に初の店舗を開設しており、この店舗の価格表（1755年か56年のものとされている）が現存している。そこにホタテ貝を模した皿(Scallop'd Shells)が掲載されており、本品と同様の作品を指すと考えられている。
この価格表によれば、ホタテ貝を模した皿には4つのサイズがあり、それぞれ1ダース当たりの価格が、4シリング、6シリング、9シリング、12シリングであった（注：20シリング＝1ポンド）。価格表にはそれぞれの具体的サイズは記されていないが、現存する作品との比較から、本品は最も小さいサイズの作品ではないかと思われる。
描かれている図柄は、染付の手描きで、"Two Peony Rock Bird(2つの芍薬と岩に鳥)"と呼ばれている図柄である。ウースターのピクルス皿の多くで描かれた図柄である。
裏面の高台内には、職人のマーク（ここでは卍に似たマーク）が染付で記されている。
