used to live in Kobe, Japan, not in the same place as before 5:46 a.m. 17 Jan 1995

The aftermath of the fateful 20 seconds of the Great Hanshin Earthquake , and how a few people successfully coped, live on in Dave McLane's award-winning video, Kobe: The First Year After . Sketch links are the work of two high school girls who shared the third floor corridor of the primary school refugee center with us. "Where do you live?" people ask. "Between my ears," I'm fond of answering. I used to also live in the university , but now I live in moose country , in Paris, in books and in cyberspace.
