About Kristin Newton

Kristin holds a degree in Fine Art from California State University, Northridge, and taught there before being invited to Japan on an art exchange program. Kristin apprenticed with Roger Darricarrere in Los Angeles.

In addition to glass art, Kristin studied under Dr. Betty Edwards (Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain) in 1988. She established Right Brain Research, a studio art school featuring the Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain techniques in Tokyo in 1993 and has taught in Hong Kong, Bali and other locations worldwide.

Born in Santa Monica, California. Apprenticed for 5 years at the stained glass studio of Roger Darricarre. B.A. in Fine Art from University of California, Northridge. Taught extension stained glass class there after graduation Had my own glass studio in Studio City for 6 years Invited to Japan in 1980 on an art exchange program.

Have been teaching at The Stained Glass Professional School in Tokyo since 1982. Associated with the Mayfair Stained Glass Studio, formerly the largest in Japan, until 1993. I have completed many stained glass commissions in Japan, Hong Kong, and the U.S. for banks, hotels, public buildings, Buddhist temples, and private residences.
