ダービー ペアのクラブ型香水瓶(1773-74年頃)
A Pair of Derby Club-shaped Essence Flasks Ca.1773-74

　チェルシー・ダービー期のトランプのクラブ型の香水瓶。作品解説については、ダービー「D2-18」及びダービー「D2-34」を参照していただきたい。（3番目の写真では、比較のため本ペアとダービー「D2-34」とを並べてある。）

　このチェルシー・ダービーのトランプ型香水瓶には興味深い続き話がある。これらが製造されてから約100年後の話である。ロンドンに、Samuel Litchfieldという人物が経営するThe Dresden Galleryという、マイセンを中心とした高級磁器を売る店があった。Litchfieldはチェルシー・ダービーの古いトランプ型香水瓶を気に入り、1876年に同じ形の作品（ただし用途は蝋燭立てに変更）をマイセンに特注し、独占販売したのである。それらの作品にはマイセンの双剣マークに加えて、「ロンドンのS. Litchfieldのために製造」と記載され、さらに1876とLを組み合わせた四角い刻印が打たれている。このマイセンのトランプ型蝋燭立ての作例は、以下のオークションサイトで見ることができる。
