The pages listed here are the on-line student lessons pages. Each set of student lesson pages does not link to the next, so teachers should refer to this page to see what is here. The teachers' notes and lesson plans listed in the Notes for Teachers section are from 1997, so they do not cover any new material outlined below.
FIRST TIME VIEWERS: Teachers and presenters can use these pages if you simply contact me to tell me.

On-Line Lesson Four: Pull-Down Menu Links.
Students practice two types of pull-down menu links, with activities to check comprehension. Mistakes lead to pages providing additional help. There is also a supplementary activity for halfway through which teachers can print out to give to their students.
JavaScript required
The two pull-down menu links require JavaScript enabled on the browsers. See "other versions" below for additional information.

Other versions available for page one:
JavaScript is required for these pages. To avoid problems and confusion arising from having some students' computer browsers unready for this, the first page cotains a JavaScript check which links to a JavaScript tutorial. The process is different for different browsers, so there are three different versions of the first page.

Enabling JavaScript
NOTE: Students with JavaScript already enabled will skip this tutorial.

I usually tackle this lesson after Chapter 3 (e-mail), and it follows a lecture-style introduction. See the teacher's notes from 1997 for ideas.

Chapter 3: E-mail

E-mail: setting up
The Netscape 3 version from 1996 & 1997 was delivered on-line, and is linked below. Note that it was specific to my own students (and our server info has since changed) but it may be a useful page for your students.
The Netscape 4 version from 1998 was not delivered on-line, but was given as a handout. I must admit that it was covered before I had learned how to use the Profile Manager.

E-mail: Writing the @ sign
My Japanese students were unfamiliar with writing the @ sign used in e-mail addresses. This lesson shows them how to do it, moving from the "known" to the "new". Teachers should see the lesson notes.
